xTree.public is the online access point to vocabularies which are edited in xTree, and intended to be shared within the cultural heritage community. The xTree.public portal is maintained by digiCULT-Verbund eG which is also the maintainer of xTree, a web-based application for the collaborative development of knowledge organization systems such as thesauri, classifications, or terminologies.
xTree implements vocnet, an extension of the skos-thes scheme which, in turn, extends SKOS with elements of the current international standard for thesauri, ISO 25964-1 (2011). The vocabulary management software xTree can be used with any popular web-browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox.

Currently, xTree hosts more than 50 controlled vocabularies such as the German and Dutch version of the Art & Architecture Thesaurus, the Partage Plus vocabulary, the thesaurus Wortnetz Kultur of the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, some vocabularies of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, the vocabulary of Jewish Museum Berlin and some digiCULT vocabularies.

Currently, a first selection of vocabularies is available on xTree.public: LIDO Terminology, Wortnetz Kultur and Oberbegriffsdatei.
From now on further vocabularies maintained in xTree will be released on the xTree.public site.
